ButterEight: The Case Study
The creation of ButterEight was an attempt to keep my freelance content separate from my personal content. As social media morphs into new facets of our society every second, it’s difficult to differentiate which personal expression online are being monetized or not. As this comes to the surface, the idea of monetizing off of our everyday lives while keeping our privacy is an aspect of the times that interests me the most. As I prepare to graduate with a degree in information technology, I believe that our online privacy dictates how safe we are in our personal lives outside of our screens. ButterEight very quickly transformed from a freelance project to an exploration on branding, faceless monetization, and the interplay between our online and offline safety.
ButterEight's online credibility directly impacts engagement, particularly on Instagram. Collaborating with clients who entrust me with their online brands, I've observed the facet of social media that monetizes lifestyle content, showcasing how to monetize content online—an intricate, self-referential trend. For ButterEight to successfully expand it’s range in this way, would be the ultimate goal in this research.
